Cloud data protection is a model used to protect stored data (data-at-rest) and moving data (data-in-motion) in the cloud. It was created to implement data storage, protection, and security methodologies for data residing in and moving in and out of a cloud environment. The model can be used to protect data regardless of where it is located or if it is managed internally or externally.
