Identity is whom someone or what something is, for example, the name by which something is known.
Identity refers to the difference or character that marks off an individual or collective from the rest of the same kind. The term identity is also used in a much broader context, for example in media, entertainment, business, computing and mathematics, to refer to specific or generalised individuals and groups.
